STARCHIP has selected LFoundry to jointly develop secure microcontrollers solutions

MEYREUIL, May 5th, 2011- StarChip, expert in designing and qualifying Smart Card IC, announced today that it has selected LFoundry, the European specialist of foundry services, to develop state of the art secure microcontrollers solutions to address ID and Payment markets.

Building on StarChip experience in Smart Card ICs, embedded security solutions and certifications, and on LFoundry experience in producing competitive secure ICs in Europe, especially with his new technology LF110, the 2 Companies aim to deliver secure ICs solutions that will fit with the global requirements of payment and ID markets.

In addition, StarChip will have the capabilities to support LFoundry’s Customers to secure and certify their own products, with a full range of secure IPs and local services which can be proposed.

The offer includes security co-processors, security subsystems, security modules and cryptographic cores that could be customized for different applications (mobile, automotive, networking, content protection, industrial….). StarChip will support customers with its expertise for IC certification (Common Criteria, EMVCo certification…). The 2 companies are addressing the increasing demand for security and certification and aim to be ranked among the European leaders of providing high reliable embedded security solutions. Through this partnership, the 2 companies can offer high guarantees on the security chain thanks to their geographical proximity and to their historical experiences.
